Smut-Machine, anyone?

Whilst randomly searching for ancient US patent records (great fun, you should try it - just randomly select a string of digits and see what that patent number is!) I cam across a patent for a 'Smut-Machine', US Patent No. 4512, dated 9th May 1846.

Smut-Machine

It's sadly not half as raunchy as I thought it might be.

So go on, do some random Patent searching and see what you can find! Just type a random number into the search box at the top, and click on the first result.

Perhaps you're looking for something to help keep the camera steady whilst taking photos (or movies)?

Edward L Bowles thought of the solution in 1930
