    Simple question (hopefully).

On a 2002 model A4 1.9tdi, which of the 2 fuel pipes is the input and which is the return? There are 2, one above the other on the bulkhead and without taking the engine cover off I can't tell which is which.

    Cheers

    Ian

start the car and clamp them one at a time if theyre rubber, the one that cuts the motor should be the feed

Well that didn't work, I couldn't clamp the pipes hard enough to prevent the fuel getting through and I must admit part of me was having second thoughts about it being a good idea.

Nobody out there done any work on either an Audi or VW 1.9tdi or got a workshop manual?

I would check out the forum on this site as they have sections for different makes.

Can you pop to your local library and have a squizz at the relevant Haynes manual?

Cheers, I'll take a look. Not sure if our local library does manuals but if I haven't found the answer by Monday I'll go and have a mooch around.

Ian try and trace them along a the bulkhead, the one from the tank should have a filter in its path, and on some it contains a rubber bulb for priming the system if you run out of fuel.

    Cheers John

Andy, no I haven't a problem. It's just that I want to fit a Motoflow and it needs to go onto the feed rather than the return.

I used to have something similar on my last company car.
Forgot to take it off before it went back!

It must have worked because I have the exact same model of car now and it does less miles per gallon.

I will be interested to see how you get on

I was looking at one of these devices and was told they were a complete waste of money?.
