....'chipping' someone has now gone from being a privacy issue to being 'the mark of the beast'.

Oh boy, what a strange world we live in.

No.
My dog is chipped, but i wouldn't do it to my kid's.

Well it would stop the local council employee's looking like a set of lost evacuee's from ww2 around town at lunch time, with thier designer tag's so they can remember what they look like without a mirror.

Religious panic aside, I think this remark from the comments says a lot:

They just might have to stage another shock-and-awe false flag event to whip the populace into shape.

Mind you I would have believed that under a Bush administration, plus this appears to be on a state by state basis rather than being a Washington proposal and I can't see Obama going along with this kind of madness.

It was originally proposed by the Bush administration, which most the crtics were skeptical of its implementation, by all but the neo-cons, on the basis of privacy.

But back in November Virginia elected a rather right wing Christian Republican governor & assistant governor, so the ultra right wing Christians are upping the stakes so to speak. They use certain notions that would rally the less than well educated (& the right wing Christian faithful) to rebuke it rather than use the privacy issues situation. It's partly about control off the masses.

the bible was written thousands of years ago,
and translated
some of the words have not been translated absolutely correctly for us to take out of context,

i don't think it should be read and understood in this way,
its more of a general guide,
