Hi all
What would be a good upgrade in optical performance for the Sony Alpha standard 18-55 kit lens.
The Zeiss alternatives are a bit out of my price range, but I heard the Tamron 17-50 [non VC version] is pretty good. Any thoughts.
The 16-50 that is bundled with the A77 may be worth looking at ?
It gets some good reviews and is quite often seen around £400 second hand?
Review here and also shows some alternatives you may also consider?

Thanks mufftrix
I never knew about this review site, its proving very useful.
Thanks
Peter
The Tamron 17-50 (non VC) is a great lens. Sharp from 2.8 with a constant 2.8 aperture. A lot of Sony users on www.dyxum.com rate it highly (see the lens review section). I'm glad I bought one, I use it with an A65.
