Following my messages to all yesterday and the information on numbers recieved it is with regret that I am canceling this meet.
I am dissappointed with the response but understand peoples committments.
I had hoped that it would be a pleasant change to visit the sites in Gwent and Llangorse this time rather than the Coast but it is not to be.
The meets up North and Scotland are always well attended and people seem to turn up for those.
Will post on the meeting page also.
Thank you all for your co-operation.
Tom.
Its a shame that this has happened because Tom had arranged with staff at Big Pit for a group of togs to go there and have access all areas.
Thanks anyway Tom for offering to put food on at the club etc. I think people would have been treated well here in South Wales![]()

Katy that is a really good idea, maybe will have a rethink and post again after Christmas. This meet has been the same weekend for the last few years.
Thank you for the comment.
I'm sorry you have had to cancel the meet Tom as you obviously put a lot of effort into organising it. I think katy has a point with the timing if you were hoping to catch people who attended Pitlochry. The Scotland meet is a bit special because of us all being together in one large and comfy hostel hosted by another epz member. The cost is also very low for the same reasons, and it is a 4 day meet not just a weekend. This means you haveto pay up front and book holiday from work well in advance. If Dougie wasen't going to Glasgow, we would have still only of come down for a day trip to this meet as a weekend away expence is slap bang between Pitlochry and xmas and not affordable.
Although pitlcohry is well attended, I know a lot of people would prefer it was a bit earlier in the year as the days are so short and weather often dodgy by November. Because of the hostel only taking group bookings at certain times of the year, this makes another time of year impossible. The Pitlcohry meet is also far more about the crack and meeting up with friends these days than a photography trip.
The North West meet is in June, which I think temps more people out and about. I think maybe a late spring meet would be a good idea, late April early May ? Just a thought ![]()
Angela,
I am going to have a word with a few people to try and come up with a date that does not conflict with other meets.I would love to arrange something that can be a regular meet on the calender that all look forward to.The Spring might be an idea but I prefer March as the light is still good and you still get the mists and inversions at that time.Go May time and you lose all that.
I am not going to give up because we have a lot to offer down here.
Tom.
The reason why i've not managed the meet for the past 3 years is the date, and it's closeness to Pitlochry/Rowardennan. Sorry you had to cancel Tom, but I would be interested in this, if you repost it ![]()

I think that last year's was the beginning of December but the previous ones were 12th January 2007 and 12th March 2006, so the dates are hardly set in stone.
It's a shame to cancel it after all the effort that Tom has made but personally I enjoy the freedom of the coast (and last year St. Fagans) where everyone meets up but can go and wander off and shoot what they like rather than being herded along a set schedule of events like they're on a school trip...although I must admit to mostly just standing around and nattering rather than taking any pictures.
When you've had enough we meet in the pub for a meal and the odd shandy or two.
Take your point Boyd and maybe it was to military in the planning but you have to have some sort of structure otherwise control may be lost and you miss out on opportunities.Agree the Coast does give people the freedom to do what they want and have a natter as you mentioned and I really enjoyed that last year to.
Just thought a change might be good that is all.
If the coast is what everyone one wants lets go for it and I am up for a Spring meet and it doesn't matter where to me.I am always passionate about taking photos they may not be the most technical but they are mine no matter what I do.
Lets have another look after the New Year.
Tom.
