In 2014 HalifaxPhotographic Society will celebrate it's centenary . We will be hosting the Yorkshire Photographic Alliance Assembly and Exhibition. We are looking for a top name speaker for a prestigious lecture .The hall we will be using will probably be limited to around 250 people probably at around 10.00 per head.We have already approached a couple of top landscape photographers (no names)who for various reasons are ruled out.If you know of a good speaker who would be suitable please feel free to suggest a name .It really needs to be a well known photographer of general appeal to a captive sort of audience .Many thanks

one of the best speakers we ever had was Clive Minnett, seen him a few times now. Always entertaining and super images shown.

Best speaker I have ever experienced was Grace Robertson, daughter of Fife Robertson - if you are old enough to remember him. She worked for many years as a photo journalist, started with Picture Post. Fascinating woman.

Duncan McEwan is one of the best lecturers in the Uk. As a former teacher he has a great delivery, look him up...

Second vote for Duncan McEwan. (Off to see him lecture tonight).
Also check out Andy Lound from Birmingham, he does brilliant talks about space & the planets with a unique delivery style.

    dr Tim Rudman, Michael Kenna.
just a few of the best i have seen

contact the rps to see if they have a list of eminent speakers.

At Cheltenham Camera Club we run an annual special event with an attractive speaker held at a prestigious venue. The last two have been Guy Edwards and David Noton and both were excellent and well received by a large audience. This year we have Eamon McCabe and next year we have booked Colin Prior. We had also considered Andy Rouse but the other two were quicker to agree a deal but we hope to see Andy Rouse at some stage.

One of the difficulties (that you will understand) is identifying a presenter who will be seen as more than the normal club presenters. Some of the names above are good Club presenters but may not have the stage presence for a 250-300 audience. In particular, we have to rule out anyone who has already lectured at our club (however good they are) because our members are expecting more than a normal club night (as are the public). Although you may not always be able to do this, ideally you need to see them perform before choosing.

Best of luck with your centenary; we are planning our Sesquicentennial Anniversary for 2015.

    What about someone like Rankin??

Probably would be easier to suggest ideas based on the genre of photography you've most interest in...I know that the BBC cameraman Doug Allen was doing a series of one-man shows recently and given his links with the best BBC wildlife programmes, he maybe a great choice.

Has anyone mentioned Hunter Kennedy yet?
