Not much competition this year though was there?

It was either Andy Murray or Nicole Cooke for me with Andy Murray just coming out on top.

Interesting choice wasn't it? A low voting year I suspect, although in some respects it's nice to see one of the less mainstream sports getting reconised.

Anyway, when has it EVER been about personality?

Andy Prialux was also a world champion, and no I didn't vote for him either.

It's because shes more of a celebrity out of her sport and thats what people are obsessed with.
Nicole Cooke would have been my choice but, im into cycling so i would say that.

    Phil THE POWER Taylor!

he's won more world championships than Hendry and Davis combined!

Greg Rusedski got it and won nowt - he waws runner un in a major..... big deal!

Yes, but darts?! As they say where I'm from ... catch yourself on! There's no way that's a proper sport in my opinion. Phil 'THE POWER' Taylor - ROFLMAO!

Agree with John's comments about lack of choice - it's not been a brilliant year for British success in the 'majority' sports. ZP actually won sommat so I won't begrudge her no matter how posh she is!
And I think the personality thing is a misnomer anyway - some very boring (but very talented) people have won this in the past (Mansell, Davis, Owen?).
The one choice that did rile me was the youngsters award to Theo Walcott - barely touched a ball in public since leaving Soton, but a WC call up plus a ridiculous transfer fee seems to have got him a trophy (although I don't know how this award was decided)

probably true, but knowing not a lot about either sport, they seem to have both achieved about the same this year, so personally I couldn't choose one over the other

now that was based purely on personality!

    Davis got it - Snooker?

There's a lot more walking in Darts

    Smile

    Ade

I'd actually argue theres more walking in snooker !!

However as already said .. Joe Calzaghe should have won it without a doubt!

    Smile

Yeah, to the bar and back Wink

Nice to see equestrian sport getting recognised for something. It's one of the few sports we actually shine at as a nation so I'm glad ZP got it, regardless of the "posh factor" or anything else the grumblers have to say.
