    Found this in a news letter from a popular image library, does this mean they can tell when someone nicks a photo or am I reading it wrongly?

    Viewing the image requires that it be downloaded.
    duh!

    Yes, I suppose they can determine the IP address to which the photo has been transfered, but I cannot see how they can determine if it was saved, etc...

    Just a scare tactic that keeps the honest people honest. Those that know better disregard such statements anyway. But I guess it adds some amount of a legal foothold (or at least some warm fuzzies) to state that copyright is held.
