    Hi Guys and Girls, Can someone explain to me what Stopping Down means. I know the larger the F number the smaller the appature,but is stopping down increasing the appeture size or decreasing it.

    In photography, stopping down is to the act of increasing the f-stop number, thus decreasing the size (aperture) of the iris of a lens, for example, stopping down from f2 to f4

    confusing hey but as explained very well by miptog f2 to f4 is a good example of stopping down.
