its just tweak to show colour balance. not easy to do with a jpeg anyhows

Just noticed that flash was used. Flash is daylight colour balanced, that is the same colour temperature as daylight. Implies that the colour balance on the camera may have changed from AWB, and be in Tungsten mode.

It's anomalous reflectance Karen, caused by the fact that purple is a made-up colour that exists only in our brains (because red and blue are at different ends of the spectrum). Cameras see different parts of the spectrum to us, so purple often comes up looking different.
Nothing wrong with your white balance. Easily fixed with selective colour tools.
