    Can anyone offer any advice on setting white balance with a grey card and studio lights. I take it that to obtain the correct setting the lights will need to be fired whilst taking the reading with the cameras preset setting.

    having looked at your profile i'm assuming you will be using a digital dslr therefore I would suggest shooting RAW (thus no in camera colour temp info) with one exposure showing the gray gard so the colour temp can be set in the computer at the point of import.

    Thanks MartyB tried your suggestion but ended up with an over exposed subject. Any other thoughts.

    are you using tungsten studio lights or studio flash?

    Change your exposure or turn the lights down a couple of stops.
