When I want an image suitable for viewing on a computer screen I save it at 72 pixels per inch giving a size 100-200 kb. If I wanted to project that image up to 10 feet wide would this file size still be suitable? I am preparing files to show in Pictures to Exe.

DPI has no bearing on screen size.

Only horiz pixels by vert pixels will effect the image on a screen. I would resize images to the exact size of the intended viewing device.
