Why do i keep missing this - http://www.ephotozine.com/learn/techniques

It seems like almost every day a fresh technique is posted on epZ.

I miss it as I like checking photo discussions on the forums; so I'd ideally have the latest technique also posted in the forums so that I'd see it each day, and if others had better hints they could comment on it too and keep it current. - just an idea.

Did anyone else miss seeing this technique area for the as long as i have?

That's true - for the last two years Nik has posted a daily tutorial by either herself or one of our contributors.
    We'll look at your suggestion

I used to follow those as well.
I had dozens of them saved as Pdfs. I lost the lot a while ago when my OS went haywire. They were one of the very few things that I hadn't backed up.
I'm always around in the forums, so I'd also appreciate them being on offer here and as Stuart says, it could lead to some worthwhile discussion. (Although probably not for very long!)

Yeah! Some miscreant would inevitably come up with 'funny remarks' or 'puns'.

    Whoops! Wink

    Hi Jas,

It's not so much the "funny remarks" miscreants that spoil these forums as the miscreants that simply want to disagree with whatever's being said.

They are Chris but try as I might, I just can't get to grips with learning from videos.
It's the same with any training I do at school (I work in schools). I'm much happier with written instructions.

    Hello,

Would you like one long forum post that gets updated every day or do you think it would be better starting a new one for each day with the link in? I like the idea of others adding their tips to it too.

Let me know which you'd like and we could start the ball rolling with it.

    Cheers,

    Nik.

If people are going to comment / discuss a particular "technique" etc. it is going to get a little dis-jointed / difficult to follow if they are ALL in ONE Forum topic.

In any case, I have not stopped by recently so perhaps things have changed, but I thought these daily techniques were linked to the Daily PHOTO Month feature , which had it's own Forum Topic for each day already ?

There is one where people can upload pictures to and we do link to the technique in there. Maybe this just needs to be clearer? Makes more sense then having another post as that could get confusing.

    Could do Nik.

Personally, I'm not really interested in uploading images to it but I do look at the Photo month thing if I see it. It does slip down the list pretty quickly sometimes though.
Another thing; I know that there's a comments box at the bottom but I never seem to see any comments posted. Now, that could be because I don't look or know where to, or it may be that not many people are aware that the box is there.
If we're going to post ideas of our own (and I think that that's a great idea) perhaps the box could be re-positioned to make it more obvious. Above the ads. perhaps?

    That's one for IT Smile

Maybe adding a line of text that says something along the lines of: 'any comments or tips of your own, leave them in the comment box below' may help?

This would happen with another forum post that just links to the technique too so not quite sure what to do about that yet!

It does not matter if it slips down the list as all the main articles are in the main techniques section anyway.
It would only stay up in the list of people are discussing it which is how it should be Smile

For me "recent activity" is saved as my home page - so that's just where I start. Other may actually use the proper epz home page Smile but that's just full of photo's Wink

So, why not just check out the technique sections daily just as you do with the Forums ?

Does not take that long, even quicker if you were to bookmark the link in your opening comment Wink

    I'm nearly the same.
My showcase is my Epz. homepage but "recent activity" is my first port of call.

It then becomes yet another place that you've got to hunt down. It's bad enough finding things on here as it is. At least if it's in the forums, a lot of us are already there. Also, by using the techniques section, no-one would ever post, or see, other members' comments.
