Adobe Photoshop CS for Photographers by Martin Evening - ISBN 0240519426

I have heard that this book is full of great information and illustrations and is a must for digital photographers using CS.

Can anyone recommend it or not as the case may be?

I just want to know if the book is worth the money before ordering?

Thanks in advance for any pointers/advice.

I've got his photoshop 7 for photographers, and its excellent. Very detailed, which can be a bit much sometimes.

One I did buy, without realising who had written it until it arrived, was THIS

Easy to use and a useful one to have next to the PC for quick reference ;o)

Whoops, put the link to the 7 version. Actually meant the CS one. :oS

Thanks Boyd and Emma for such speedy replies, I definately need some tuition with Adobe CS and someone mentioned Martin Evening's book so i thought I would ask others who have been in a similar position (or may have been in a similar position!!)

Martin Evening is very good, but I find him a bit hard-going at times. I went for the Scott Kelby book here as being easier to understand. Get yourself down to a good bookshop such as Borders or Waterstones and you should be able to check out both styles.

Love the Martin Evening book. the DVD you get with it is also superb. It's very in depth, but that's not a bad thing I think.

I've got the 5.5 version of the book, Personally i don't find it overly technical, for a more tutorial based approach Photoshop ... Artistry By Haynes & Crumpler is very good (expensive though.)

I have recently bought this book and although I was quite familiar with CS I have learnt a lot of little tricks from the bits of the book I have worked through so far. Highly recommended but try Amazon for a better price.

Martin Evening's book is excellent, but very detailed and formal. If you want a detailed book that will really explain the ins and outs of Photoshop CS, try 'Photoshop CS Studio Techniques' by Ben Willmore. He really takes a more down-to-earth jargon free approach and aims to get you understanding what you're really doing.

I bought Martin Evening's book and couldn't make head nor tail of it.
I started to wonder if I was dyslexic.
It probably is good if you already have a good working knowledge of PS but it's ceratinly not a beginners book in my humble opinion.

Was looking at the Ben Willmore book this morning in PC World and think it's probably better for a new user as I agree with Merl that the Martin Evening book does require some knowledge of CS to get the best out of it. For simple advice for what to do with your pictures then the Scott Kelby book is excellent.
