Hi, I'm looking to buy a small compact Camera and the SX220 HS seems to fit the bill.
Had a search on here and found comments a year old.

I'm wondering if anyone has bought this model and can update the comment.

Seems to compare with the Panasonic Lumix DMC-TZ10 so any comparisons welcome.

The price has come down on these models so they are tempting.

tnx for any replies

I have the Canon Ixus 230 HS which I bought to replace my Panasonic DMC-TZ10.

It is surprisingly good. Smile

Thanks Carabosse,
I've had a look at it online. It seems to be well liked but as the sx220 has extra zoom x14, HD video, and a lower price, It pips Ixus.

i bought the sx220is and I really like it, it does everything i need from a compact and does a pretty good job with most picture situations, auto mode sometimes refuses to use the flash even though it needs it but thats easily sorted when using aperture or shutter modes. i would completely recommend it. its sturdy, well built and well featured.

thanks Darren,

Did you suss the difference between the HS & the IS models?
I can't seem to find info that explains what they are.

And was there a price difference?

cheers

Does anyone know if the pixel resolution can be lowered on the SX 220 HS?

Thanks Darren,
yeah sometimes these things are confusing, the HS seems to be the same as the IS.

Started looking at the S90 thinking it could be good if the price was right but it's still about 45 dearer than the Sx and you dont get that amazing 14x zoom.

So I'm still hankering after the sx220 so far. Just a pity it deosn't have a hot shoe for ext flash.
