oh I dont know really .. theres going to be alot of accommodation going spare when its all over, new communities being set up - a 20 year plan for the future. Its quite refreshing to see some long term plans rather than short term gains, perhaps?

Point taken K, but we are a more densely populated country - most of the stuff created by the Olympics will be put to good use - I hopeSmile

I wonder if it was in Greece - the answer is probably notSad

I hope so too, there are so nice shiny buildings to be used (and I hope not abused).

Greece and its tax system may well have just a little to do with its debts (although I'm sure there are alot more issues).

As far as I am aware, the Olympics are a poisoned chalice for some countries - ask Canada

Apart from the short term construction work it has created in this country, of which, I hope, I am a valuable member (construction that is) , I do not see any long term benefits of the Olympics - all it has done is stall the unemployment figures for a few years - fair enough, there is more work on the horizon, like rail work, but that is a specialised industry, which already has plenty of work to keep it going anyway

LOL its late, I've had a busy week and I really shouldnt be up now... that really not going to cut it though is it ha!

I guess the optimistic part of me is really hoping that something good will come out of the olypmics, and not just medals (we do have a few hopefuls and determined athletes).

I love the velodrome already, its a shame that companies cant advertise their involvement in the games though surely thats a backwards step for growth for those lucky enough to be involved?

I was kind of hoping it might get some of the youngsters interested in taking up athletics by joining clubs and the like, some clubs are in dire straits.

On a final note, before I retire to bed, It appears to me, that if as much effort had been put into the progressive future of this country, as has been done with the Olympics, then we might not be in the financial state we are now currently in.

Short term + = long term loss
