In my experience smaller apertures generally speed things up.

1.. Water-as-ectoplasm...

2.. Exaggerated wide-angle foregrounds/"worm's eye view" ( especially of pebbles on a beach, or a Yorkshire limestone pavement )...

3.. In "Comments," the phrase "simple but effective" ...It's the use of "but" rather than "and."
