For 'proggy mat.' ?? (It would not last a weekend. Proggy mats made from old cloth clippings, not silk. Lasted years. In 1934 Queen Mary visited the North East and saw proggy mats. She was taken by them, and remarked, " I want some of them for Buck Palace." A neighbour of my Nanna said, " Mek your own, 'cos we hevvn't time to mek yi one. We're too busy lookin' after the bairns, and cookin' wor husbands meals."![]()
