Hi
This might seem an odd (or obvious) question but are tripod heads interchangeable between different makes?.
What I mean is, I have a very old Velbon tripod where the leg arrangements are pretty stable and in good nick but the head is a bit rubbish.
I was thinking of buying a Manferreto head with a quick release catch and all the business, but what are the odds of it fitting the old legs?
Cheers
Sam
if your persent tripod has a 1/4 inch thread then you can pop one of the many heads availiable, i use a manfrottor 804rc2 3 way head, its great for landscape stuff but its about 60 quid, you can also pick up a s/h manfrotto 190 for about 60 quid, it also depends on wether you want a ball head or a 3 way head, they both have their good and bad points, G
Quote: Fairly good, there are two sizes of screw fitting, and I'm fairly sure that if your unlucky, a thread adaptor is available throu Jessops anyway, or Online.

OK I've plumped..
Bought myself a Manfrotto 804RC2 head..
Of course it didn't fit and I had to buy the adator screw thingy and there are no decent phot shops around here so I couldn't play....
Interestingly despite what everyone says (and I appreciate I'm going to be shot down here) I didn't find any deals on the internet, other than a couple of secondhand ones on eBay...The best price I could find was what about 50p less than Jacobs do as their standard in-store price. Take out the delivery charges and I probably got the best price there is
.... but I DON'T want to know anywhere cheaper!
