Hi all! The Critique Team has been discussing whether members might possibly find it useful to have an area of the site where people could request tutorials.
The Techniques section does, of course, have a wealth of information in it but it is not necessarily sufficiently accessible or up to date.
However, in some instances, we would be able to satisfy such requests by pointing the requester in the right direction. In other cases a tutorial could be created.
I should emphasise that the team's thinking is in its early stages here, and the end-product has not yet started to take shape.
As a starting point, please let us have both your general views and also your specific requests. If you think we are already adequately catered for, please let us know that as well. But please don't let your thinking be hampered by what we already have on EPZ... "blue skies" thinking is fine. ![]()
Thanks.
CB
That could be a lot of work CB.

Would this be really needed, I understand that Pete and the team are working on a down load section for tutorials for PS and the like and has already stated that if anybody has anything useful it could be added.
Would it be not best to see how this comes along first.
I feel the techniques section could be made easier to navigate for beginners though and with a few more up to date bits and pieces ![]()
As I understand it Tony the download section will include actions and the like.
Quote: How about a place where members can submit tutorials in response to requests as well
Thats already in place Tony, you just need to submit the tutorial to Pete ![]()
I can't be the only one who finds some of the tutorials confusing. I try to follow the advice at times and it seldom seems to work out.
There are an awful lot of readers on this site who are well clued up on the tech side of things and tend to assume we all are.
What would be nice is a section based on the "Idiots guide to" principal. You know the sort of thing... Question"
How do I do this?
Answer. Push that, turn this, press that.
It could be a section devoid of tech speak that some of us could dip into when we have those DOH.. moments.

I agree David, could be good if the techniques section was organised something like beginner, intermediate and advanced.
There is a section in the forum for beginners already, I have no idea how often its actually used though or how many people are aware that its even there ![]()
Quote: " If confused see Dumb section".
I think you might find that many who are seeking clarification in techniques and so on are neither 'dumb' nor 'idiots' but just learning new skills, so perhaps you might consider the use of a more appropriately sensitive terminology that does not set newbies (like myself) as idiots, dumb or confused.
thanks

I have had that experience also, following a tutorial then finding the end result either bears no resemblance to what is in the tutorial or the tutorial assumes i know how to use photoshop....at the moment i am a total fvkwit and need some easy stuff to get going.

Just ask in the beginners section. If it's a quick answer someone usually will. If it leads to a more in-depth tutorial we can look to create one.
There is so much good advice posted on the forum I notice it then lose by the time I come to do something about it.
The search option is a pain because although it is supposed to be searcheable by date I almost always get an error message about ambiguity if I try to do this.
To have an indexed section for those invaluable tips and hints would be brilliant.
The actions bank idea is also excellent.
