Two new entry level DSLR bodies have been officially anounced by Pentax plus the release of the previously announced 21mm pancake lens.

Reports of Pentax's demise seem to be premature...

    YEAH!

These sound like cracking cameras... I'm very pleased to see the link to the new 10 MP *ist D replacement....

There's a queue of people urging me to jump to Canon

They have to be patient.....very patient

It'll look lovely with my K lenses on it - not them widdle M efforts but the real biggies that came out with the original K series Smile

Seriously tho I do have a tremor in my hands and anti-shake is perhaps the 'straw that broke that broke the camel's back' and I may just be tempted into buying a Pentax DSLR - depends on the proce mind Smile

Ceri you are to film what the ravens are to the tower of London. How can you think of deserting.

The tripod's getting bloody heavy - and it's not so much a desertion as well discretion being the better part of valour

The gleam of all those fabulous pre-war triplet lenses he has will lure Ceri back, I am sure! Smile)

Lovely looking cameras, as always with Pentax, and I bet they're beauties to handle too. I do already have four fairly modern Pentax SLRs and a good selection of primes, so I'm not a complete Luddite Smile

Nor would I turn my back on me old cameras - in fact I've bought another three this week (two today).

In-body anti-shake seems to be gathering converts. This means that Sony/KM, Pentax and Samsung will all have their form of moving sensor image stabilisation. Olympus have none. Nikon and Canon still charge for it in every lens.

Quote: Nikon and Canon still charge for it in every lens.

Maybe, but that means it can be optimised for each individual type of lens.

Also, if it goes up the creek then only that lens is affected.

but it does remove compatability issues
