Hi Alan,
Looks like on the first 2 traceroutes that hope 9 is taking quite alot longer than the others. This is before your connection ever accesses our server. I'll pass these details to our server admin to see what he can make of it.

Again, problem at hop 9. Looks like its taking too long. This sort of stuff is dealt with by your ISP, nothing that we can do.

My ISP has stated after I queried the hop via NL the other day for EPZ, Spain today that they have no control over the Internet routing to a site, lets face it that is a fundamental operating
characteristic of the system.
Looking at the latest posts this is now turning into the proverbial game of tennis and I do not play. Loss of E2 membership is no hardship to me and not paying for its use will give me no cause to complain when I cannot connect, so lapse it will

I would suggest therefore the Tracert results are not related to the problem.

Any other thoughts Chris?...we've checked all the site related things that could possibly cause it. Also why is only happening to a few? I tend to do a lot of memory intensive stuff with the gallery and never get any issues - it's been super fast for the last six months or so. Anyone with experience in this sort of speed related stuff? Having done many tests the IT guys are convinced it's related to the road into the site and not the site. I can accept that as a valid reason...but happy to pursue other avenues if we get it fixed
Has anybody who has the problem tried the Google DNS fix? As I said the current Mrs Lobster had real problems with one particular site, timing out & becoming unavailable of an evening - the Google DNS fix has fixed it like magic!

I've changed my IP address to the Google one and everything is quicker, not just Epz.
The change was immediate and obvious, and certainly not just perceived.
Although it's improved, Epz. is still a bit slow (by comparison) but I've always put that down to the fact that there's so much of it to load.
As yet, I haven't encountered the "returning to the wrong page game" or the painfully slow loading times I used to sometimes get but the problems were always fairly intermittent anyway.
Even if you're happy with the way the site's behaving, trying the Google DNS might impress you.
