Quote: Sorry to hear about the mindless attack, i have lost faith in the police though and it does'nt help when police have to get experts in to see if they can squeeze into a holdall on their own and take 400 attempts

Now there you go Phil - this thread was about Paul and his daughter and friend and a terrible incident where he assures us the police are working hard and you seem to feel the need, for some reason completely unassociated with Paul's situation, to turn it into a police bashing for some ill-informed reason. FYI they use an 'expert' to demonstrate how difficult a task is in order to provide crucial EXPERT EVIDENCE. The number of attempts required is also an important demonstration of difficulty when assessing whether a non-expert (the victim) is likely to have been able to carry the task out himself or a third party was involved.

Anyway back to the important issue - Sorry to hear what happened Paul. My daughter is 13 and I cant imagine how you would feel no matter what age your daughter is. I hope the people responsible are caught and dealt with in a deserving fashion and that you are able to come to terms with the incident as well as your daughter and friend.

    Come on Denny. (With respect)
I'm sure this isn't what Paul wants to read just at this time mate?

I wish I could get my daughter to read this Paul, It might make her understand that we have her best interests at heart when we try and stop her being out at all times of the day and night.

I really hope the g*ts that did this get their just deserts, and you and your daughter make a full recovery

Best wishes to your daughter and her friend Paul, and I hope you get past it. Hang in there and be strong for each other.

A few years back, I was attacked in a nightclub and had three of my front teeth knocked out - it was extremely shocking to me (I'd been going to pubs and clubs pretty much every weekend for the previous ten or so years without any trouble) and I had real trouble getting over it. Then one day I woke up and decided I wasn't going to let it ruin my life. Although bad **** happens it is thankfully rare in the UK (despite what you read in the papers). Unfortunately it is usually the good people that get caught up in it by being in the wrong place at the wrong time.

These days I avoid places where I think there might be 'out of control drinking' (i.e. town centre pubs and clubs) - you didn't say it was drink related, but in my experience it tends to be in 99% of cases. When I go out, I make sure I have good mates round me, we stick together, and look out for each other.

Speedy recovery to your daughter and her mate, and thorough recovery to you.

Too many chavs on the loose these days who deserve something they won't recover from.

Sorry to hear about your daughter and the after-effects on you Paul. Panic attacks are awful things and I sincerely hope you get them under control and that you and your daughter recover soon.

Jeez Paul that's awful. I hope you and your family all recover from the trauma soon.

Attacks like this may or may not be more commonplace these days but even if they are we can't let them stop us living our lives, we just may need to adapt our routine a little at times.

Paul, no-one is unbreakable when something like this happens to someone we love and care for. It is a normal human reaction.
My very best wishes to all the innocent victims of this incident.

It's a dreadful situation to be in, Paul. I hope things improve soon - for you, your daughter and her friend. Meanwhile, keep taking the pills and take care of yourself.

I also expressed my sadness of this attack taking place and wish Paul and his daughter the speediest recovery,my "jibe" of the police is because when i was attacked when i worked as a taxi driver, they too told me they were working at there hardest to capture the culprit, although they had cctv coverage of him getting into my taxi they never caught him, 1 year after the attack the police came round to visit me to update me on there progress i asked them about the cctv footage,he told me its of no use as they only keep the footage for 3 months. So forgive me for not having faith in the police forceSmile

My daughter was with a group of friends, a couple of other girls and a couple of young lads, all aged around 14, they were just enjoying themselves, it was late afternoon on one of the best known stretches of river anywhere , plenty of people around and the police now have many witnesses.

This picture was taken last October in almost the exact same spot and includes the same group of friends and not a pub in site Smile

Moments before the girls were attacked one of the young lads was subjected to some racial abuse from these attackers so some may see this as a hate crime or racially provoked.

However I don`t like to look at it like that, hatred breeds hatred and I prefer to look at it as un provoked and random.

    Good to hear.

Incidentally Paul, I am sure you're onto it but, just in case not, don't forget these people. I managed to get compensation from them last year for a friend who was attacked by burglars and suffered a facial injury. I know money can't really compensate but it can sometimes help psychologically, and if she can buy some nice things with it, that'll be all to the good. Smile
