I'm entering this in my club's comp tonight but I need the latin name, can anyone help? I've tried Googling to no avail.

Just looking in my fungi book, have a look at Velvet Shank (flammulina velutipes) it looks similar to the shot in my book. Or Yellow-Brown Knight-Cap (tricholoma fulvum).
for me it looks like stinking russula the latin name is russula foetans.the discription is this large honey-brown russula has a slimy feel to its cap which is distinctly furrowed and wartyat the margin which often matures wavy and split.both gills and stemage brown-spotted.it has an unpleasentoily smell, like rancid butter.hth
Try your luck http://www.leifgoodwin.co.uk/Title%20Page/MainPage.html
