Should I keep these on my lenses all the time? I know they offer a degree of protection as well as reducing flare.

If I was to use a polarising or ND filter, would I simply use over the UV filter?

Best not to double up on filters if you can avoid it.

you'll find that you probably dont need both on at the same time. Try it and see, but the lens will then have been made longer by the width of the 2 filters. I have a UV on, and usually take it off if I'm putting the polariser on.

If you are like many who prefer to have protection filter on at all times, Totally clear filter attachments are available NC's.

Nikon for example produce a range of these, And I'm fairly sure Canon do like wise.

According to the specs, They have absolutely no effect on basic lens performance, What so ever.
