Had to laugh at this ad on eBay from someone who thinks a Leica M9 is a "vintage" camera.

Leica will customize their cameras and one option is a distressed look where a brand new camera body looks as if it's been though the wars. These prove popular with students reading for a degree in documentary photography and buying a ready-distressed Leica saves hours of work with an emery board!

In any case, I thought that the M9 had already been superceded.

It has, by several models, but even so it can't really be considered 'vintage' any more than a Nikon D3 or a Canon of the same era, nor would the M7 or MP film cameras despite being earlier models!

If you get a black Leica, the coating wears fairly quickly anyway with everyday usage, it's designed that way.
