Looking out over the grey and dreich leaden skies of Aberdeen today John, I don't hold much hope. I'll probably be in for a day of airport misery tomorrow as well as I'm due to fly to Shetland then offshore but with today's backlog.......![]()
Supposed to flying to Menorca tomorrow and it's a bit touch and go (or not go) at the moment.
There are some pretty spectacular pictures from this and the last eruption being shown here.
It looks as though EpZ member Hugeknot has been around the volcano site for the last eruption too.
Are there any predictions on when flights may start again, guess there will be a backlog to get through too??

The BBC website is reporting (15.30 p.m on Thursday).
The UK's air traffic control service (Nats) said no flights would be allowed in UK airspace until at least 0700 BST on Friday amid fears of engine damage. Then adding
Nats suggested that the restrictions were unlikely to be lifted after 0700, saying saying it was "very unlikely that the situation over England will improve in the foreseeable future".
The NATS Website reports
The cloud of volcanic ash is now spread across the UK and continuing to travel south. In line with international civil aviation policy, no flights other than agreed emergencies are currently permitted in UK controlled airspace. Following a review of the latest Met Office information, NATS advises that these restrictions will remain in place in UK controlled airspace until 0700 (UK time) tomorrow, Friday 16 April, at the earliest. We will review further Met Office information and at 2000 today (UK time) we will advise the arrangements that will be in place through to 1300 (UK time) tomorrow.
