    Hi All,
I was thinking of starting to have a go at some wedding photography and general portrait work and was wondering what the best walk around lens would be. My current gear is a Nikon D5000, 18-55mm VR, 50mm F1.8 and a 70-300mm VR. my budget is around £1000. Please help

    Many thanks Adam.

Probably the best walk around lens would be one of those you are already using.

ie your 18-55 or if lighting is a little limited or you just want a very shallow depth of field the 50mm.

Unless you have spare cash burning a hole in your pocket Smile

if i was looking to buy one (holidays etc) i would go for the 18-200 best all round not great but for the money do not think you can do better.

i used to have the 18-200 and it was such a useful lens! mine was the sigma one and was ok on my D50 but struggled once i upgraded to the D200, i think the Nikon one is pretty sharp so will be worth a look.

I have the Nikon 18 - 200 VR lens and as a general walkabout lens it is great, perfect for holidays with family, days out and for events such as car shows when you just want to get some nice shots and not have to carry a large bag full of lenses. I don't find it that sharp at it's focal length extremes though.
