Impressive stuff, Tony. Would like to see this on YouTube HD... the movement will be smoother.

Personally, I would have colour-corrected the clips where there is a blue colour cast but I am guessing you may have left the colour in, intentionally. Some titling plus a few transitions (not too many though) plus a fade at the end would be good.

    Well done! Smile

Thanks CB, actually it was because of you that I decided to use Sony Vegas to edit the huge files.

The blue - yes this was in the low light pics and I decided to render it 50% black and white.

A fade out at the end is a good idea!!

Many thanks for all your comments Smile

A great way to celebrate a day worthy of note.
The time-lapse work makes for some interesting effects and the transition to the geyser when the music changed was inspired.
Just how big was the original?

original cigarette? original geysir? original file?

The original files are huge, some of the longer clips are over 200mb!!

    Maybe all of themSmile
I was really wondering about the size prior to reducing it for the web? It must have been a labour of love and something to do on the dark nights when you weren't watching the northern lights.
It must have helped to stop the cravings.

Excellent. Is that Skogafoss they're dancing behind ?

Splutter at the IRONY! And it's thanks to that flame war that CB is using Vegas. Grin

CB: "I repeat: for entry-level HD editing, Premiere Elements 7 is generally considered, by those who actually make a living from video, the pick of the bunch." Tongue

    Oooh!
I only know Sony Vegas, so I can't compare, but yes it was due to the outcome of the Flame War that I decided to go the Sony route... thanks to both of you Wink

"Still the case", methinks not, Vegas Light - or whatever it's called - is better Grin

Dunno, nobody uses that anyway. Grin

(Incidentally, the view about Prem El, being best entry-level, is shared by a video pro with over 30 years in the business, who has tried every bit of editing software that exists and who has written several books on video. I tend to respect his judgement. Wink)

Direct link to HD version here.

Slightly better on YouTube, I think, Tony. And the maining viewing window is bigger, of course.

On Vimeo they change the frame rate. YouTube maintains the frame rate (provided it is 24, 25 or 30fps).

Thanks CB! In my experience it seems smoother on Vimeo Smile
