    Just booked a couple of weeks in Malta, flying out next Thursday (can't wait). Neither I nor my wife have ever been there before and I was wondering if anyone has any recommendations of what or where to shoot while we're there.

    I am busy scouring t'net for tourist guides while my boss isn't looking, but with the vast amount of knowledge on here I thought I'd ask the question.

    Any suggestions very welcome.

    I live in on Gozo, Malta most of the time Smile I'm out here until 29th August, so if you are coming over to Gozo,I'd be pleased to show you round. If you are flying with Air Malta then the in flight magazine has a great list of places to see and events on during your time - new issue each month. Also Malta Tourist Authority (MTA) create a monthly events magazine which is free. Looking at your gallery, there is not much in the way of motorsports but stacks of old cars on the road Smile

    Rob, thanks for the advice, and the offer of a guided tour. I'll have a word with my better half...

    I'll also pick up one of the MTA magazines if I can find it, that should be useful.

    John, KingArthur and BertC both live in Malta, so don't forget to have a look at their portfolios for a few ideas.

    Don't forget to take some shots of the old Maltese buses as well.
    They are disappearing very quickly, so get them while you can.

    Things that are fun to photograph are:

    Mosta Dome.
    The Silent City.
    The catacombes with the crusader church in them.
    Blue Grotto.
    The Gozo Glass blowing factories (And buy some glass also!)
    Popeye Village (The film was crap but the set is great fun)

    I must disagree with Rob about motor sports.
    When you've travelled into Valetta on a bus and watched the road surface whipping past under your feet, you'll think you've been in a Grand Prix. Don't miss the experience.

    Oh and if you're into Macro work the flippin enormous insects of very odd colours are nice also.

    I have to repay a visit to Mdina (silent city) for a photo trip .... stunning place.

    Thanks for the suggestions guys, should be a busy couple of weeks. Good job my better half knows what she's in for (ie. two weeks of seeing me with a camera welded to my face).

    John, if you get the early ferry over to Gozo then you may have the chance of one of these sunrises!
