Nikon D1X - part of the "vintage" collection...
Nikon D50 Standby but never yet used as such because the
Nikon D300 has never missed a beat...
Canon G9
Canon Ixus 85IS and 95IS...either of which is always in a jacket pocket...bl***y brilliant battery life..
Any "upgrade" would not be based on video ability...would prefer the research money be spent on still picture prowess..the Sony Handycam does all I need there thank-you..

Quote: My goodness.... how many digital cameras does one need?! LOL

The pragmatic answer to that is "one".

I find it useful to have a full-frame dSLR, a crop-sensor dSLR and a compact. But, frankly, that is an indulgence for we amateur photographers. Professionals might feel they need back-up.

As Camairish has said, digital cameras plummet in resale value as soon as they are superseded (after about 6 months it sometimes seems) but I don't agree with him about lenses, which do tend to hold their value better.
