I agree with Paul, no sense in being hung up on what is full frame. For example with my L series lens the 40D is a crop camera, with an APS-C lens I have its full frame Smile A 4/3 camera with an olympus 4/3 lens is full frame, but with a sigma lens on it's a crop camera Smile

Think on effective focal lengths and the qualities you want from the sensor.

This also puts the 40D just over half the price of the D300. That is impressive.

We certinally do. the 5D is the shoddiest piece of junk on the market.
Just look at the excuse for the 'mode' dial - no running man, no flower, no mountain! Just what can you use the 5D to photograph??

Never really been that sure on this, I`ve always believed that sigma`s for 4/3 fit need a littlle more machining on the rear elements and could explain why there are so few sigma`s for 4/3 fit. Fitting my old zuiko 50mm makes it a crop for sure Smile

Quote: I have been browsing the net for 40D prices, and it is often priced just below a Nikon D200 at 750 to 800. Whilst browsing I stumbled across the Pentax K10D, a well specified, fairly well made camera not far off the same spec, 450. 450 !!!!

Now it is the same age as the Nikon and looks to use the same sensor etc and perhaps it is a bit slower, but not 300 worth. And it throws in body IS. Again perhaps not as good as in-lens IS, but it must make it at least equal value.

It is priced at whole class below. Why? Is it a lack of sales, because at that price all those people going in the buy Canon 400D's and nikon D40/D80's ought to be rushing towards it.

I mean Pentax has a decent name and history. There is a big range of lenses and good support from the independent's like sigma.

What gives? If I did not have a couple of decent lenses I would be pondering hard on getting one.

Come back Ben all is forgiven

I belive Park cameras have it now priced at 369. I talked with my local dealer and he also does it at that price with a price match, the camera was priced at over 400 till I asked about a match in price.
