What was your first digital camera?

I don't think this has been asked for a couple of years as a forum post.....so here goes again...

Our first digital camera was purchased in circa 1999 - a mighty Kodak DC215 - with optical viewfinder, 2x optical zoom, CF card format, serial cable for upload to PC - which delivered the user plenty of time for tea, and meals whilst awaiting the inevitable connection failure and re-connection, and an impressive 1 mpix resolution.....

Cost a small fortune to buy in 1999, and ate it's 4x AA batteries like there was no tomorrow. We used a 4mb CF card in the DC215 then as opposed to the 48gb we routinely carry in the D800 nowadays....

The DC215 was gifted with a metal body, and, rather unfortunately, a plastic battery tray which broke every time it was looked at. The camera also had the impressive ability to use it's small rear screen as a viewfinder, of course Kodak noted that this was inadvisable due to excessive battery consumption

We were, it hast be said, quite impressed at the tme LOL

First digital camera was a Minolta S404 compact (4Mp). I was so impressed by the image quality, I got rid of my Canon film SLR within a week.

First DSLR was the Canon 20D.

First CSC was the Olympus E-PL2.

91/2 years ago I bought a Kodak, can't remember what it was, and a week later returned it and got a Canon S40, which lasted 1 month, then I got a Fuji 602, followed by a Nikon D70 first seen on this site.

Gosh...I reckon I got started pretty late and entered the digital realm only in August 2006. The Canon PowerShot A430 ushered me in. Four megapixels of awesomeness. It fell ill (second time in its life) last month and I'm actually toying with the idea of getting it repaired. The money would be better spent on new stuff, I know. I'll see what the quote is.

First bridge - Panasonic Lumix FZ20, in 2006. Cost me over 500. A 5Mp job which shot JPEG and TIFF (but no Raw), with JPEGs kicking in at just over 2Mb. I loved it, but became seduced by the "more pixels is better" argument, among other things, and bought my first dSLR -a Canon 350D - a year later. Still have the latter, as well as a Canon 40D, a Panasonic G3 and a Panasonic Lumix LX3.

Sold the FZ20 on eBay for buttons a year or so back and have regretted it ever since. In spite of what my better half says, you can never have too many cameras ..........

I had one of the first there was, it was a 1 mega pixel digital camera and it came with a computer package I brought, the package cost 2500 at the time, can't remember the name of the camera though.
still have the computer in the loft but shame I did not keep the camera. I brought the package in 1996.
Maybe someone can remember what was about then.

I also started with a Fuji MX-700. Cost about 450 back in '99. Memory also very expensive - I think a 64 MB smartcard cost about 64!

I had a 'floppy disk adaptor' which allowed me to download from the smartcard via a floppy disk drive.

Kodak DC20. Can't recall its megapixelage - certainly a lot less than a megapixel, probably standard VGA resolution.
