    Hi all!

I have been studying photography for a few years now and am at a good level working with photoshop.

What I wondered is if there are any courses where you can learn more advanced photoshop skills? I am currently at Uni but the tutors I have don't believe in using photoshop and so don't teach it!

Also I would like to learn maybe mixed media techniques where a mixture of illustrator and photoshop are used together.

Does anybody have any good recommendations on courses I should look at (in the uk or online)?

    Thankyou!

Lynda.com is the best place I know of. It's a subscription based site but is reasonably priced. It has courses on many different types of software and is very thorough.

    Have a look here: http://www.adobe.com/training/

I have certainly used Linda.com to bring myself up to speed on Lightroom and Dreamweaver so it is well worth considering this option as it is well structured and comprehensive.

One alternative is to consider whether there is a suitable camera club in your area that may help. At my club I run Digital Photography Courses and I run a Digital Imaging Group. We have several members who are well qualified and with more than 15 years digital imaging experience so can certainly rival the local colleges. However, you may have to find a larger Club for this.

I mostly learned what skills I currently have by searching the web (which is mostly free) and buying books.
It's not usually structured but if you have a specific need to learn something, nine times out of ten you can usually find a free tutorial somewhere.
The non-structured approach may not be what you are precisely looking for but has the advantage of enabling you to learn one thing at a time.
Photoshop is enormous in its potential and has a very steep learning curve, so this apporach generally worked for me.

    Here are some useful sites

Bookwise, I would recommend searching for the following authors - all acknowledged experts:
    Bruce Fraser
    Scott Kelby
    Jeff Schewe
    Katrin Eismann
    Martin Evening

There are a myriad of books and tutorials out there...it just takes a little effort to search out what's best for you!

This lot should get you pointed in the right direction....more or less!
