I think the 40d was pure speculation and rumour.

The 400d has been announced...You're not getting confused with this, are you?

Plus you could buy 4 or 5 used 20D for the same coin so build quality really isnt that crucial Wink

Canon change their DSLR products approx every 18 months and as the 30D was only launched in march 2006, i doubt the 40D will arrive until approx this time 2007.
Probably the next camera to be changed will be the 5D and the 1d mkIIn

I think everyone is confusing this with the 400D this is a Photoshop edit of the now 30D aswe have seen done before, as Canon have only just lanched the 30D this march i think 30D users like myself would be very dissapointed in the release of the 40D and if they have made one its cos of all the dust problems people have had with the 30D

I have just produced a small reprint order for client whose wedding I covered in 2005; I am amazed at the quality of image produced by the 10D Smile

I would like to wait for the 1d MkIIn or 30d replacements but when will they arrive?? they must be due soon surely and they must be more than 10 meg pixels. This is a big investment and the last thing I or anyone else would want to happen is to go out and buy a 3000 pounds plus camera only to find out a new replacement was due in two months!!!

I use 1dmkii for a living and the last thing I need is more megapixles, its a memory system so I can store a few preset memories and dial up my settings on demand, I do not have time to dial in a different setting for a inside car shot and a night time street then walk inside a brightly lit room and do it all again, I know my settings off by heart, the trouble is the camera can not store them
Give the next 1d some alpha tagging memory and it will steal the show

Well I wanted the 40D. I intend to treat myself to a new camera next year and if it came out new, the price would have fallen to sensible levels by then. Also I would like it to offer a significant improvement in image quality over my 6mp camera. I know that the 30D has better high ISO performance but at low ISO the difference is small. And as the pixels get smaller the dust will annoy more, so a cleaning system would help.

and yes I want my cake and I want to eat it. Smile
