You take for granted the presence of a true artist when they're alive, but when they leave this world, you suddenly realise the profound effect they had on you. A tragic loss and criminal waste of a truly major talent gone wrong.

A worked example for many people on how not to live your life.

The music industry really should make an all out effort to clean itself up. There have been far too many tragic and early deaths of great talent over the years.

The X Factor did the right thing in removing Frankie Coccoza from the show because of his behaviour only for Big Brother to take him on in the hope that he would behave badly. If the entertainment industry encourages the Frankies of this world we will see a lot more tragedies like Elvis, Amy, Michael and Whitney.

Whitney had a wonderful voice that so many others tried to emulate. May she rest in peace.

An even bigger loss to her dealer no doubt.
I should not joke but I could not help it.
If you live your life in that way you will pay the price down the line.

Her life was a reversal of a normal life; she was at a peak at a very young age, and from there it was in a natural decline, later helped along by the self abuse. Studies are showing that the sort of backwards evolution of a celebrity, whether it be a sports star, or entertainer, is a cause of major depression in their lives. They realise at a young age that it's as good as it gets, and from there their skills and abilities begin to decline, whereas the normal progression of life is to reach a peak much later, with a gradual ascent to the top in their field. This must be especially true in the case of child stars like whitney and Michael Jackson. It's sad, but recent research may be helpful in the future.

    I'm sure.

Quote: Elvis, Amy, Michael and Whitney.

All of whom were users at least, or addicts, perhaps more likely.

Maybe I'm missing something but how many people on here would be genuinely sorry to hear that the local druggie had been found dead somewhere?
Just because these people all had a higher profile, they're not really very much different.

A great voice, until it got ravaged by drug abuse. Towards the end of her life it had become a shadow of what it had been. Very sad, but perhaps there's a price to be paid for exceptional talent?

Any death at a young age is tragic, and it is happening in the public eye too often these days. Such a shame - what a waste.

    What a waste of life.
Just been watching her greatest top 20 hits on the 4music channel. A superb singer without a doubt.
They've just played Whitney and Mariah Carey singing When You Beleive, superb tune and an outstanding duo SmileSmile
