Just out of personal curiosity, who here uses Gravatar ( http://www.gravatar.com )?

Does it cost? It's doesn't really say anything on the site unless you give them your e-mail address and start an account.

Don't really see the need for it. Perhaps it's 'Created Need', where people tell you what you 'Must Have' but don't really need, or can get along with quite well without.

But perhaps I need to know more about it?

Perhaps. Wink

Basically, it's a free global service that holds avatar images for email addresses. It's what most blogs (ie: wordpress) use to display avatars next to reader comments. A website that uses gravatar avatars can display a user's avatar based off their email address. This means the website user doesn't have to upload an avatar to the website if they already have a gravatar.

In most cases, if you haven't found a need for it yet, you probably don't need it.

I'd not heard of it and initially thought "neat". Then again I prefer to have different personas on different websites so I'd not use it.

I have different email addresses for every website, so definitely no use to me Smile

I've used it before, as you said it speeds up commenting on blogs, but it seems restricted to Wordpress blogs. I can't remember seeing a website that used it.
