Hello, I only bought my camera last weekend and so far it has crashed on me at least 3 or 4 times! The power button stays on and everything seems to work except I cant take a photo and the screen is not on! and when i turn the cameras off it doesnt actually go off! the only way to fix it is to take the battery out which is rather irritating!

any ideas as to what might be the cause? the battery is fully charged and it happens randomly, doesnt seem to matter what mode i am in!

I am thinking i should take it back to the shop!?

Yes, take it back, if you do so within 7 days, they will replace, if it's over, they repair and you'll be without the camera. I think thats the current thing with shops.

As it is new I would agree with the contact seller advice. It may be worth a check how it works with a different memory card.

You could always check the firmware version and the latest version on the canon web site, the upgrade info should tell you if it is to fix a lock up problem.

But I would not update the firmware unless you are certain. Gettign a new one sounds the smart advice.

mine did the same, i was shooting in raw on continous, and i had to take battery out, i put it down to the large files and it needed time to buffer up, it's been fine since and i never lost a file when i took out the battery so who knows.

Are you shooting lots of images when it happens?

I don't think he/she shoots any images when it happens.

Simply and easiest solution is to take it back, and get it replaced.
