I have known two photographers, walking together, where one has failed to see a great landscape shot and the other hasn't. If you are talking about well known beauty spots, then I agree, somebody will have photographed it better than you. However, simply walking through the countryside will give ample opportunities for fresh original landscapes - you just have to spot them.

A few people will always produce more original photographs than the rest of us simply because they look at the world in a different way. Most of us (myself included) are condemned to regurgitating or reproducing versions of landscapes that we have either seen before or are how we think they should be photographed.
Anybody else tired of the foreground interest boulder landscape shot with a Canon 17-40mm? If you can guess the focal length of the lens then the photograph has failed!

    After all this ................

    Define 'Landscape'!
I have always said that I don't do 'landscapes' (I am a lazy snapper) but a while ago on a trip to Skye with a group of dyed in the woods landscapers I took a picture of a boat.
A voice from over my shoulder said "That is a landscape! - I wish I had taken it"
That took me by surprise because I would never have described it as a landscape.
I was then told that I just see landscapes differently.
My non-landscape landscape now hangs on Jeanie's wall and for that I am eternally honoured
