    I've found this website, it seems pretty good but I just want to make sure I'm not being an idiot and that this lens will work with my D5100

    Go for the zoom, you will find the 10-20 mm very useful and more practical than a prime.

    Agreed - there may well be times when you find one end of the zoom range more useful than the other end - and vice versa.

    The SIGMA 10-20 f3.5-5.6 is a cracking wide angle lens , It has won numerous awards. Well worth the investment
