Hi - I bought a new laptop which unfortunately has Windows 8 installed on it. It's a steep learning curve for me compared with all other previous Windows OS. One of my biggest issues is sending emails - my btinternet address is set up and I can receive emails ok and send some although they sit in the outbox for a bit before going. However, whenever I try to send an email with images it sits in the outbox for a short while then moves into the drafts folder and sets up camp there!!! Any help appreciated, thanks, Ian.

The default Windows 8 mail app is also designed with cloud support thus it does not support pop3 email systems it is imap only. If your BT email is pop3 there are plenty of other email clients that will work well with a pop3 email.

Thanks redsnappa - think I'll download Mozilla and bypass Windows 8 Mail altogether.

OK, I've downloaded Mozilla Thunderbird (which is compatible with Windows 8) but I cannot seem to get the installer to run. When I locate the file in my downloads & click on it (or use run as administrator) nothing happens.
Can anyone point me in the right direction here too please?
    Many thanks, Ian.

I'm using Thunderbird and Windows 8, so yes, it can be done.

This is probably a silly question but you did download Thunderbird directly from Mozilla?

I once had a problem installing it, having, rather foolishly as it turned out, downloaded it from 'soft tonic' or somewhere.

I did yes, I've shut the laptop down & will restart & try again when I get home later tonight. At least I know it'll work so thanks for that.

Me too. Use IE from the desktop not the start menu to download it from here & it should all work OK.

    Another vote for Thunderbird.

Thanks guys but it's just not working for me. Have downloaded it with both Google and IE - both from the Mozilla site. It appears in my downloads but just will not open, I don't get the option to RUN the program after download is completed. I can't delete the downloads either because it says they are open!! If there are any other suggestions I'd appreciate them, if not I'll try Phils suggestion.

    Thanks, Ian.

I had similar problems with the btinternet account, and now use Yahoo Mail and Hotmail, which seem fine.

Is that a desktop or a webmail application?
