got a new computer with above operating system cant upload pics. any ideas

No idea, not had any problems with windows 8 to be honest.

I don't really understand what you're trying to do or why you can't just 'right click and send to.' or as Chris says, 'drag and drop.'

How did you go about uploading images previously?

previously go to upload find pic in Picassa click and it would upload just wont upload on this system was using Vista no probs thanks for advice so far. Kevin

Now we're getting somewhere.
I'll stand to be corrected but Picasa doesn't store any pics, it's simply a viewer/organiser.
These pics are being viewed using Picasa.
The pics. themselves are stored somewhere else on your computer. It's that somewhere else that you need to go to, to upload anything.
I don't understand how you could "click upload pics find pics in Picassa" to uplaod them.

Have you checked it is not a firewall issue which is stopping you?
