I think some of these workshops are in or around manchester - and pretty good from what I've heard.

Not Sheffield I know, but not too far.

    My 2p....
You get more out of a workshop if it is not local to where you live.
Because you start the day well out of your comfort zone it's easier to take on new ideas.
So don't be put off by travelling.

    And a recommendation
I know Welsh Kiwi organises studio workshops in the Anglesey area.
I went on one of her landscape workshops - accommodation was amazingly cheap (by Somerset standards) and the post-workshop banter was as useful as the workshop itself.

    Good link Dave for Longmor.
Looks interesting and thinking it might be just the boost I am in need of.for landscapes.
Tuition looks excellent with someone so credible.

I run workshops for Welsh Kiwi - mainly on outdoor stuff and HDR at the moment.

The workshops are really good value for what you get - usually all day, usually getting a nice lunch and most of the day is packed with activity to keep you thinking.

I'm not sure who does the studio workshops actually (Will Cheung has done some though) - I've done some "taster" sessions, where I've done an hour on strobist techniques and also on light positions (teaching people about things like butterfly, loop, and rembrandt lighting - that kinda thing) but not a full session. If you want to learn about Architecture and HDR, then I'm runing an workshop on 2nd |April at Salford Quays

    Where the info ade?

I feel a lot of courses ive seen seem to be money for old rope. I think a two day course would be an advantage with photographing 1st day and processing and printing the shots the next.

Whilst i think i could benefit from a landscape workshop I'm trying to focus my attention on studio and portrait at moment as that's where i feel the weakest even though this is where i am most passionate.

    HI

welshot do advertise with EPZ, so I think I am allowed to post a link to their site

    It's here...

I'm going to cover loads in one day - you'll need your camera kit and a laptop with Photomatix and Photoshop to benefit the most.

Craig - I do 1-2-1 strobist tuition, are you interested in shooting outside with Speedlites, or is it just studio you're after at the moment? We could hire a studio, but you're looking at quite a chunk for the day. The principals are pretty much the same, except you've got no control over the ambient light with outside flash - it's more of a challenge, and for me, more fun Smile
