Yashica Minister D - Correct battery.

13 Sep 2013 1:24PM
What will be the best battery/cell to use with a Yashica Minister D rangefinder, now that the mercury batteries are no longer available. I gather the Wein cell which gives the correct unvarying voltage (1.3v) is a replacement, but does not last very long.

I used a company many years ago who had a replacement for an old mercury battery.

I've not had a look for yours although a quick email to them may be useful.

Here's a link.

To keep the same voltage the only replacement is the zinc/air battery with 1.35v, however if you don't mind the light meter reading slightly overexposed you can use silver oxide at 1.55v just remember to compensate for the difference in voltage.

Thank you both for your posts and the link. I will look into them.
