Yippee! I'm moving ......

22 Aug 2008 6:31PM
Learned today that contracts have been exchanged on my new home and that I can definitely move on 29 August!

This marks a new start in my life and I am so looking forward to the adventure.

Make sure you know where the corkscrew is when you get to the new house, everything else can wait but wine and beer after a day of moving is needed by all involved!

Don't forget the boxes of junk in the loft that you never open, you will want to keep them in the new loft never to be opened, if your anything like me that is.

Good luck in your new home Stephen. Stressful, moving house, but as Stu says, the corkscrew and phone no of the local chinese takeaway on moving night and you should be fine.

I consider myself a semi pro on the moving front, having moved 6 times in the last 4 yrs, and all I can say is............

there will be a box, not just any box, but the heaviest of them all, that the removal men will leave by they front door. You will struggle and probably cause a hernia moving, only to find its full of cr@p and was designated for the loft any way Grin

Just kidding.... hope everything goes well, the bit about 6 moves in 4 yrs was true, so I know how stressful it can be.

Thanks for the tips (especially those related to food and drink!).

Less than a week to go and I'm wondering what else to give away, bin or leave behind. Keep repeating to myself "less is more". Thank goodness there's a charity AND a rubbish collection on Tuesday!

Stephen,

Congrats! and for moving, less is definantly more.
but..... you need an essentials box to go with you on the move that contains
A roll of loo paper
some light bulbs
can opener
sharp knife, knife, fork and spoon,
plate, bowl, mug,
kettle, tea/coffee/sugar & milk
pack of choccy biccies & box of cereal
and most importantly.....a stereo and your favorite CD (or CD's) to play to firmly plant your mark on your new home.
Take the box with you so it can't go missing or get buried.
Oh and one other thing, write on two opposite sides of each box what is in them. Saves endles shifting of boxes to find your underpants Wink
Good luck.
