Bought one of these to replace the third flash I've trashed this year. Its a really basic flash with an impressive GN of 58 - same as the canon 580EX2.

Worked like a dream tonight - just flashed away without missing, nice "BEEP" to tell oyu when its charged....

They're 40ish quid in the UK, less from Hong Kong....

Surely they must explode after 3 shoots or something... any horror stories, or are they really too good to be true?

I have one to complement my SB900 and will be buying another shortly. Well worth the investment.

I've a 2 year old Yongnuo wireless remote, think it cost me 15, use it all the time for my macro stuff and apart from changing batteries in it twice which is good considering the amount of use it gets, it hasn't missed a beat!

I've heard and read about these flash units and they reckon they are as good as the canon 580 ex ii, an almost direct rip off in fact.
Keep us informed If you have the mini flex tt5s and tt1 as i would be interested to see how they work with this system...

they don't have ETTL Ian so probably not compatible

as a purely manual flash unit, they seem really simple and powerful and cheap...

As say that was quite expensive for a purely manual setup.

There`s a pair of 285`s here, the extra bits might or might not be handy.

These units have been about for 30 odd years, I believe the 285`s are still being made, the 120` guide number is pretty good.

The older units can often be picked up for just a few pounds.

Yongnuo do make an ettl model now, which is very cheap compared to canon prices.
