My favourite is my present DSLR, the 20D. But I also really liked my Canon EOS IX, my APS SLR. And a really good one was my Minolta SRT101b, which got broken beyond repair in an unfortunate accident.

My first SLR, bought at the tender age of 14 with my paper round money (and a lot of help from my dad), was a Nikon FM2. Full manual to learn on, a joy to use and bullet proof to boot.

Quote: Olympus OM4 Ti

One of the best slr`s ever made and loved it. I deeply regreted selling my OM kit on changing to FM2`s. First ever slr an OM10.

Those OM's were nice. I was fondling a nice OM1 on Monday, and had to walk away from a lovely OM20 for sale.

The problem with the latter om20/30`s john is battery life, the always seemed to drain very quickly. Got one myself that I never use Smile

My first was a Pentax MG. Modest spec in 1985 when I got it - just ap priority automatic when my mates were getting Canons and Minoltas with multimode programming. The lens was very good though, and it was tiny for a full frame SLR. I still have it though it's much battered and in need of repair.

It's place was taking by a brace of Pentax MX's - one in black, one in chrome. Almost as small as the MG, manual only, DOF preview, aperture display in the viewfinder. Handles just as well.

I've built a little Exa system up in the last few years. I have a number of bodies, but the one I use most is a 1961 model fitted with a contemporary CZJ Tessar. I've waist and eye level finders for it, extension tubes and some really nice lenses... Meyer 35mm, later Meyer 30mm and 135mm, and several Meyer telephotos (135mm f3.5, 200mm f4 and 300mm f4) that can be adapted to work on my Prakticas as well. All in I don't think I've spent much more than about a £120 on the lot.

Anybody remember the Pentax Auto 110, often sold in kits. Probally the smallest slr ever made.

Yes, but could you afford the Zeiss lenses to go with it, Pete?

I couldn't!!!! Smile

I still have one - had repaired at Harrow Tech Services last year for about £36.

My favourite camera was my OM1. Still have it though it is now defunct. Gave me many happy years of use.

I really liked having a couple of battered Pentax 6x7s though I gave up because of processing costs and sold them for 5 times as much as I bought them for, which made me happy for a short while!

My late grandad's Nikon FM - it was my mum's (not late!) in between. I also couldn't be doing without my FM2n but the FM has a sentimental value I can't imagine my digital 'work' cameras ever possessing.

I've had about 10 SLRs - can honestly say that they get better with every change - current one is my new 40D - one hell of a different beast from my first Praktica (and I've just found the wife's 1st Praktika hidden away - gosh - memories!)
