I've commented on the gallery posting, Ash.
I hope you don't think I've been to negative, but I get the impression you are after critique of your work.
Additional to what I've said there, I do think there's a B&W subject here, but without the colour you need to look at the compositional elements more carefully.
I suspect that in colour the daffodils would dominate and rescue the shot a little, but you would lose the impact you are looking for in the tree.
It's a tricky one to comment on. I suspect, based purely on the title, that the point of the image is to show a large DOF and in that you have definitely succeeded. I do not know the location but was it possible to get lower such that the tree was outlined against the sky whilst still retaining the stonework at the back of the frame? Even with a bland sky that may have worked especially given how tightly you've cropped the tree. Looks like a fabulous scene though and one with plenty of potential to explore with the camera.
