I know there is an old topic on the forum but just wondered if anyone on here had had any Sigma Lenses re chipped to work on their Canon. My Sigma 70-200 f2.8 APO EX DG (series 1) works perfectly on the 350D, but no communications with the 7D means it has to go back for re chipping, has anyone had this done recently.
I've had a couple of friends who got it re-chipped for free. However Sigma only offered that to them once, so they would have to pay to get it re-chipped to a different camera. But it was just postage that time.
Cheers Tony.
I called Sigma today and they have said they would re chip F.O.C. if the current owner was the original purchaser and had the receipt to prove so, otherwise a charge of £34.73 would apply, which is pretty fair if you ask me, that's the info I was trying to find out about, as I am the second owner of the Lens and had it been silly money to re-chip, I would just have sold it and bought the Canon 28-300 instead. Hopefully this info will help anyone else in a similar situation.
Not quite the same but I just had a Sigma flash rechipped for a 60D - £5 for the postage back - excellent service from Sigma.
Hi John, details I have are:-
tel 01707 329 999
e-mail service@sigma-imaging-uk.com
They will give you the address to send the Lens to, I would recommend a proof of postage receipt from PO.
Doug.
