Welcome to Graham and Phil's Derbyshire Mini(ish but getting larger) -Meet Page..
(setting it up themselves was beyond them so I have been asked to act as deputy).
The meet will be held in the Stanage area, meeting at Overtones Car Park, at 0545 hrs.
No postcode for Overstones Car Park, but the grid reference is SK245829. For a map, look here, Version 2!.
Stanage Edge (both ends!), Millstones, Carl Wark and Higger Tor, Carrhead Rocks, Twisted Tree, Padley Gorge.
Folk will inevitably wander off from the main group as there are so many wishing to attend - so, suggestion is that we re-meet at 11.45 at the Scotsmans Pack, Hathersedge, for lunch, then do your own thing after lunch.
Numbers for the day, should you be late or get lost;
Graham's number; 07788 418866

its Jeanies meet now
ive never been to one so i dont know what gos on, some bizarre sacrificial ritual on the sacrifice stone on Higger i think,
At the moment Graham and i are agreed on a date of sun 29th march proposed meeting place Stanage for dawn because of the parking, i think thats the day the clocks go on.
a full inversion with golden side lighting has been ordered but the arrangements for that need to be by Martin Levers and Martin West as it always shines for them. lol ![]()
Phil
As there seems also to be at least the WAP part of WASP appearing, there would be an above average possibility of cracking light!
The small print:
However, no guarantee will be offered nor any refunds given in the event crap weather manifesting itself!!![]()
Down as provisional attendee, and light bringer (no pressure then!)!
![]()
Count me in, please! This mini-meet seems to be turning into a fairly major one... (I hope no-one is superstitious?
)
ooo can I come and play please - may even wangle a bed at my aunts for the night before then I don't look like death due to the early start - don't normally do mornings!
Ermm, the weather forecast really isn't looking too good for Sunday peeps. Keep an eye on it.
Any chance of a non-Stanage faction ?
You are indeed correct.
I'll stop fretting now and change the date on my calendar !
![]()
it will be great to meet you all, i hope you will be wearing stickers on your bob caps with your names,
still talking to Graham about times possible locations etc, checking if places are open for coffees etc and hope to have most details on hereby the weekend.
keep fingers crossed for good weather but bring wellies for water work in case its not,
see you all later
Phil
I'm up for this. Will be nice to put some faces to names...
Cheers, Ian.
Hoping to make it...hope it's not too much of a hike,I don't like hills..especially at the time of day that I really ought to be fast asleep......Then again I will probably still be fast asleep...LOL...I do hope there is somewhere not too far away to get lots of warm coffee,or do I need a flask?
Sharon
hi you two,
you can walk as far or as little as you want, you will have opportunities within yards of the car, no major hiking is expected, most things are within easy reach.
ill be taking a flask, i think there is an icecream van on top of stanage though ![]()
Grindleford station or Hathersage are only a short drive away if you need coffee and bacon butts, im sure Graham will be posting all this info later.

I'll make an appearance, provided i'm back from Scotland. Not been out to the Peaks for a while.
Mike
Can I bring Chester with me?
I'll let you take pictures of him... ![]()
Ian.
Grr I'm MOST dischuffed, I now have other responsibilities that are clashing with my photographic obsession so I'm really sorry but I've had to unattend myself from this meeting :O(
My Aunt isn't happy either as I was gonna stay with her the night before and she's not seen me since crimbo and was looking forward to being the hostess with the mostess.
Please please let me know when the next one is and I will ENSURE that NOTHING clashes!
Hope you have a blast and looking forward to seeing some corking images on here!
Hmmm, dare we hope that the Peak-Light boys have worked their magic!
Chester is more than welcome Ian, no doubt Jura will be there, in the way as usual!

PAH!!! Just been out with Team W.A.S.P. this morning to the Roaches - - had the lot! Talk about 4 seasons in one day! BUT____
WE GOT SOME NICE LIGHT! (and are expecting more from sunset too!)
We've decided that those "Peak-Light" guys cancel us out and we get awful stuff when they're around ![]()
CU in the morning! ![]()

Well we've decided to scatter you lot all around Derbyshire to give the rest of us a decent chance in the middle ![]()
Lovely rainbow weather though ![]()
Chris.

Your slipping up, if the rest of the team had any decency they would shield you from such elements before all else, and not worrying about their own personal gain ![]()
I've been watching this thread with interest and am trying to persuade myself to get out of bed at "omg it's still the middle of the night" to try out my new Nikon D90, since the venue is just over an hours drive away.
I consider myself an enthusiast not a tog, and I carry lenses with me and not glass. Do you guys bite?
all we have is a common interest, dont bite and wont even even nip, most of us have only met in cyber space anyway.
you can bring and use a box brownie or a Hassleblad and i wouldnt even notice, let alone be bothered, if you come and take just one picture you are welome.
see you in the middle of the night ![]()
PHIL
thank you everyone who made the effort to get up at rediculous times this morning and come into the Peak, it was lovely to meet you all. i look forward to looking at all your pictures and i hope we meet again in the future,
special thanks to Jeanie for helping and for anyone who gave assistance. also special thanks to Peak light and wasp for guaranteeing the somewhat blue but beautiful weather.
wishing you all a safe journey home
Phil
Cracking day in great company, thanks to all that made it so good. It wasn't the best day for photography but we made up for it in laughs ![]()
Thanks for a good day today. I really enjoyed the company, and banter, and breakfast, and lunch and walking the dogs (and helping Jura over the stiles
)
Thanks to all...
Had a really great day - - now totally shattered and ready for bed! (Might just have time for a few "reward" ales first tho!) ![]()
I'd love to say Thanks to Phil & Graham, but I guess we really should be thanking their "Mentor", Jeanie!
Now you can organise the next one yourselves, Guys! ![]()

Next One !!!
Very blue skies and red foreheads at the end of the day. Thanks all for a great day out on the hills and for new faces to familiar names.
Graham ![]()
Home at last and what a great meet. Caught the sun on my face in March.. thats twice this month now.. amazing stuff ![]()
Thanks Graham and Phil for "organising" the meet, LOL!!!! (even though Phil was still after me organising things at the cafe at breakfast yesterday).
It was great meeting so many new friends as well as all the old friends. I was lucky enough to miss the lecture at the carpark at the start of the day - phew!
Hope you all brought some goodies home in those cameras.
Jura is still broken!! (so am I!)
Jeanie

hope you are not cross with me Jeanie. i am just a useless male that needs organising, and what chance have i got with that lot, and besides if you look at the top of my upload, you will see what i had to contend with on the day, ![]()
it was still great though, and thank you for all you did.
Phil
Hi Folks,
my apologies for not making it to the meet yesterday. I was rather late getting down there, so I opted to go to Burbage for the sunrise... somewhere I'd not shot before. Next time!
I've enjoyed the images you've all uploaded so far. Quite challenging conditions with that cloudless sky!
Best wishes,
Andy
Good to meet everyone on Sunday, although many were just dark blobs at such an early hour. The Park Warden's rant was made more amusing by the non-plussed response from the (non-official and non-organised
) group of photographers who were still half asleep and couldn't care less if Mr Curlew wanted to sing his heart out in peace.
I had intended to join you all at Padley, but got stuck behind a slow mo and lost the convoy. With not being familiar with Padley I headed back for a rest before heading back out into the Peaks in the afternoon.
My apologies for not being altogether with it!. I think I had 2 hours sleep so by breakfast I was pooped. Tell me again why I prefer sunsets!
Looking forward to seeing the pictures. I'll see if I have anything worth posting. If anything though it whetted my appetite to get out again as this was the first time this year the camera had got an outing.
Hope to see you all again at some point.
by popular request, im arranging another meet, say 2019. this will provide me with time to be organised this time and to notify the wardens that we will then be official.
2. to tell the grindleford station we are coming and expect up to 30 so we can all go to the pool cafe instead, (bins full of left over sausages and im banned until 2019)
3. to have the top entry to padley closed off.
4. to give everyone a printed map of locations timed to the minute and put sat-navs on everyones cap.
5. to put stickers on everyones fleeces so we know whos who.
6. to phone Wamp and JKEN and tell them not to put the clocks back and have a full hours lay in by putting them on instead.
7. to phone everyone and tell them to remember a tripod.
8. to hire a cloud machine like the thomsons advert, ( due to endless complaints over which i had little control.)
9. to arrange anchors at Carrhead to keep the highland cattle in the right place for a picture.
10. to make sure Martin levers understands more fully that as weather bringer--- pink dawns, sunshine and blue sky is not enough when others all want more of a rosy tint and some cumulous clouds above a glowing inversion, ( which you did provide for me on 2 occasions prior)
11. to write to Martin w and tell him ive heard him remind me enough times now ,how Killamarsh thrashed us in a interclub comp after 7 consecutive defeats,
12. to tell my travelling companions to wait instead of dissapearing somewhere over edale when i lag behind
13, to have oxgen mask stations on stanage edge and an ice cream van at the trig.
work has started , so start thinking about idf you want to join us again next year when it just might be as chaotic
Phil
When Mr Warden started on about us being an organised group, I felt like saying (in appropriate silly voice) "we're all individuals" ala Monty Python - Life of Brian. But I think he might have not seen the funny side of it and we would have ended up taking photographs somewhere 'completely different'
What did the warden think you were all going to do? Personally, I like to stamp on Curlew but I don't know about the rest of you!
I go into the Peaks for sunrises quite frequently and can assure you that at that time of day, photographers are the only people around. Even the joggers and crag rats don't usually make it up there till about 8am.
Had he been a few yards to the East, he'd have been over the boarder into Yorkshire and could have been legally punched in the mouth!
First of all I would like to thank Ian for letting me tag along to catch the sunrise at Carhead Rocks as I knew nobody. I declined the invitation to breakfast and headed up to Stanage Edge after which I never met anyone again and I had forgotten the name of the pub where we were to meet for lunch. My own fault as I would have loved to go to Padley Gorge. Nevertheless, I had an enjoyable day out, finally getting home just before 4pm.
Many thanks to the organisers for getting this meet up and running and I hope to make my out back out there soon. I guess it's time to post some of my efforts now.
John
iam sorry i never met up with any of you,
i was there just not at the right time and in the same place as you all where,,,,, or maybe i was in the same place, does that count as me attending the meeting,
being as i did not know who was who or maybe none of them was from here i went of on my own, dont worry was no problem, iam always up the Dales every week, only live down the road from them,
maybe next time i met up with you all, hopefully
Well I plan on heading up there again over the Easter period taking in Grindleford Station and Padley Gorge - date yet to be decided ![]()
